What format do I put the phone number for Text messages?

Match Criteria: From contains: 555 (area code)

so all people calling from that area code should get a given reply.

Hmm, I hadn't though about filtering it on area code, what if I put in a wildcard character, like ?, so you can position your match where you want it. Would that work?
