Not able to watch video podcast on CDMA 8230 (Pearl Flip)

New postby silvervan1986 on Sat May 09, 2009 10:20 am

Hi,

New to podtrapper so hopefully this is something i'm doing wrong and not a lack of codec.

I have BB8230 (Pearl Flip CDMA) OS 4.6.1.182 and after i downloaded larry kings Podcast from URL (http://rss.cnn.com/services/podcasting/lkl/rss.xml) i get file downloaded to my SD card that is called PT_E_1_2.m4v.dat.

When i look at that it doesn't look like a media type file but rather a file with a .dat extension.

When I try to play the video podcast i get the following error on my BB. "Error playing media: 3L Insufficient memory: there is in suffficient memory to perform the requested operation."

Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

Is it the wrong URL? Missing codecs?

I also used the Podcaster Desktop to download the file.

Thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately the 82xx, 83xx, 81xx, and 88xx series generally aren't powerful enough to play the formats used by most video podcasts. There have been some people that have found video podcasts that do work, but they're few and far between.

The only ones that can play most video podcasts (but even they still have trouble with some) are the curve 8900, storm and bold (the 89xx series and 9xxx series).

Sorry I don't have a better answer for you :(
