I Really Want 2 Luv Podtrapper

As a mobile phone software developer, I've really tried hard to love this program given all the positive experiences and user loyalty.

I've got a few days left on the trial of my BlackBerry Bold but find that I've encountered so many problems that seem very strange.
1) I've had it report no network connection when I can surf the web and it is getting mail.
2) It doesn't resume downloading on any podcast on my phone. It will resume but never complete the download.

I've tested the program against a similar program running on my Nokia n97 both phones using my WiFi connection and the Nokia completes and updates the programs every time, i.e., The Phone Show episode 92, I get a 4% download using Podtrapper, while it completes on my computer, Nokia n97. I'm testing using the same podcasts.

All permissions are set correctly so, I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on what the problem may be.

I have had Podtrapper now for over 9 months. I love it. It works great on my Storm.
Yes there are times I wonder what it's doing, and sometimes it wig's out, but a exiting or a battery pull always fixes the problems.
There are so many options and settings that it's difficult to understand what most of them do.
There doesn't seem to be a good owners manual but this forum has been a great resource for my questions.
I have my Podtrapper set to update/download at night. Sometimes I have a problem with having the mass storage support on.
When you connect your device to a computer it basically turns off the ability of the device to read the SD card. A battery pull or turning the mass storage support off will fix this. I just make sure it plays something I have in the Podtrapper before I put it on the charger at night to make sure it is working.

It does take some battery power. I use it for 8 to 12 hours a day at work and end up having to change to my back up battery after about 8 to 10 hours.

I don't remember where I found this but here's a PodTrapper help site.

Hi guys,

It's worth pointing out that every screen has a 'Help' menu item that will take you to an explanation of all of the options and features on that screen (though it's not always 100% up to date).

For the network issues, keep in mind that PodTrapper can be configured to only communicate over certain transports (and it's defaulted to not downloading over the cell network), while the browser will attempt to communicate any way it can. The blackberry itself has about 7 different transports, all with different capabilities and restrictions.

If downloading over wifi, though, you shouldn't have any issues, and if you do definitely shoot me a copy of the logs (via the 'Email Developer' menu item).

I'd really like to see the logs there, my guess is the BB was trying to go over the cell network for some reason (which is why you'll see it stop at certain portions, the BB cell network transports generally only allow files up to 5MB, so PodTrapper attempts to download chunks at a time to bypass the restrictions).

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can answer anything else for you.

Marcus,
I am using wifi for the tests.
How do I get your logs to send to you as I'll run another test?

You can use the 'Email Developer' menu item in the app. It'll ask you if you want to include diagnostic logs in the email.

I know I am coming into this several months too late, but I wonder if the OP tried to play the podcast while it was still downloading. This seems to be the kiss of death for me on my 8320 (t-mobile, using WiFi, v4.7 OS). I've since changed to an 8900, but I got in the habit of never playing before the download was complete so I haven't tested it on the 8900.

I posted about this problem as a feature request here: http://www.versatilemonkey.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=751

Playing back while downloading should have gotten much better in the latest beta. Would you mind trying it there and seeing how it works for you? Especially if you turn on Buffered Playback, it should work like you'd think it should. (Playing properly while downloading).

Let me know, this is definitely something I'd like to have solid.
