Delete confirmation default button

New postby marwatk on Fri Jan 15, 2010 7:05 pm

Hi all,

In one of the last beta releases I finally implemented a feature that a few users had asked for: the delete confirmation window now defaults to 'Cancel' instead of 'Delete'.

The goal here was to prevent the accidental deletion when you forget to lock your phone (a problem the original users were having), but the obvious trade-off is it's now hard to do the delete without looking (a problem some users are now having).

After changing it a couple of users wanted to change it back, and since this issue is totally subjective I figured I'd let the users decide. So... decide. :)

It could, something just strikes me as odd about making it such. Don't really have anything to back that up, though.

I prefer the delete option to be the default (and I voted as such). I don't hit the delete button by accident ever, so I don't see the need. However, since upgrading to 2.6.7 I have been hitting the D key instead of the ball select key and that's just as fast. I'm OK with leaving the change in place, and I'll just get used to using the D hotkey.
