Keyboard shortcut list

Edit: This has been superseded by the user manual

I'll keep this updated as new suggestions are added, but here's the current list (as of 1.0.12) of keyboard shortcuts:

T: Move to top of list
B: Move to bottom of list
Space: Play current selection or toggle pause if current selection isn't an episode
Enter: Same as trackball click
Click trackball on episode progress bar when viewing details: Play or pause
Del: Delete episode/podcast
D: View downloads
L: Lock screen

Top left key (q,w,#,!): Rewind
Top second to left key: Rewind less
Top right key (o,p,@,.): FF
Top second right key: FF less

That's it for now, let me know if you'd like to see anything else.

Marcus,

If I bowse to the podcast and hit space to play it (without first clicking on the podcast to get to the menu with the controls) the podcast will play but the keyboard shortcuts will not work. I will have to pause it, click on it to get to the screen with the control buttons, and then play it again to have the keyoard shortcuts work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ed

Not sure what's going on there, Ed.

I'll check it out and let you know.

I'd suggest "space bar" in a podcast list for "scroll down", and shift-space for scroll up. This is in line with standard behaviour in other BB apps.

Hi Mike,

Because of the limited media-specific buttons I chose to use space to play/pause, but there's still 't' and 'b' to go to the top and bottom of a list. I may add an 'alt+scroll' for paging later, but generally the lists podtrapper manages are small enough that paging isn't a huge deal. (Let me know if there's a case I'm missing).

Thanks for letting me know. I'm not sure I'll be able to correct this (anything that can crash the phone is generally OS level and out of my hands), but I'll definitely check it out and let you know.

In BerryTunes, rolling the ball left and right will rewind and forward which I really like now. it's faster IMHO.

There are issues with the ball moving left and right (mostly having to do with how long the media podtrapper plays is). I have it in my head how I want to do it, but it's going to be a lot of work, so it'll probably come in its own version sometime later.

It'll definitely get better over time...

I'd like for "k" to be a shortcut for "Key Lock".

Why K? If you have your BlackBerry setup such that "allow calls from home screen" (or whatever it's called) is turned off, pressing K on the home screen is a shortcut for the keylock.

Hey ScanAmerica, it's actually L right now, I never knew about the 'K' thing from the home screen. Thanks for the tip. I'll add that in the next version.

Thanks, maybe both K and L could be shortcuts since L is a lot more intuitive if you don't know about the K shortcut (L is a shortcut for the Calendar on the main screen).

Marcus,

How does FF (and FF Less) & Rewind (and Rewind Less) work? Is it a defined number or a percentage?

thanks,
Ed

I LOVE the playback controls (maybe because they remind me a little of my DVR controls), and have never liked using my trackball to move through media. I wish more apps had this control scheme (especially the native video player)... Please don't abandon the ability to "skip" around if you do add trackball functionality. Thanks!
