9700 OS 6 - stopping playing a video podcast

Hi Marcus.

I just upgraded my 9700 to the OS6 leak that came out today.

I've noticed that when I try to stop playback of a video podcast it does not stop and return to the playlist screen.... instead it stops the video and pauses it on the last frame displayed.

Are you aware of this?

Thanks,

Brad

Video podcasts don't work well on OS6.
When the frame is frozen, I have to turn the phone off to be able to use the phone again.

Yeah, that is exactly what I have to do also...

well, the phone doesn't have to turn ALL the way off.... it just has to have the 5 second warning come up and then you can abort.

Marcus: Is there a fix in the pipe for this (i hope)??

He surely deserves it. He's got to be one of the most responsive and in-touch software developers who ever was!

Hi guys,

Yeah, this has been a known issue on the Torch, but I couldn't track it down in the simulator. Now that OS 6 has a release for the 9700 I'll load it up on my phone and squash it. How has OS 6 been on the 9700 so far? (My 9700 is my primary phone)

This release of OS6 is very buggy (copy/paste, etc.) and a lot of software is broken on it.
The 9700 definitely doesn't have enough memory if you're used to multitasking with a lot of apps.
Depending on the network you're on, you won't be able to connect to the RIM servers (BIS, Appworld, etc).

+
It's great to have a decent browser, even if I'm not a fan of the zoom feature (it's too random)
It's quite smooth in most areas
It's nice to have a CPU/Memory monitor
We can finally group emails by thread

:/

Sucks on the stability front. I cannot believe they can't get their crap together on these OS bugs. ARG.

Well, it's not official yet ;)
And I did an upgrade, so maybe people with 9780 and 9800 will have less problems in the UK.

Thanks for working on this Marcus. It is killing my ability to watch my news programs :P

Also... Now that the API is open for BBM can we expect PT to update our status to reflect what we're watching/listening to?

I'm not seeing a method call for this yet (it's been possible to interact with BBM for several releases, but they severely broke it in 5.0). I could be wrong, but it doesn't look like they've changed any of those APIs in 6.0, and afaik there's no way to set the BBM status :/ (I'd definitely like to be shown wrong, though, so if you know of an app that's doing it let me know).

The BB Media player can, but it's a RIM app, so they have an unfair advantage...

Oh, and based on what I read these APIs are not yet available...early 2011.

Thanks for the 411 on the API.

Any clue as to what is causing the video problems in 6.0?

Just wanted to add that the connection issues with BB6 only happen if you don't allow SSL renegotiation.

FYI, I found and fixed the OS 6 video issue. It'll go out in 3.0.6 probably tomorrow (but if I miss it it probably won't be until Monday, I'm out of town again this weekend).

Thanks Marcus !

I've got the same frozen issue of video play on 9700 OS6.418
I just update podtrapper 3.0.6 and it's OK now. :D

Awesome, so is anyone seeing any issues with this anymore? I thought someone was still, but I couldn't find it...
