Other apps very slow during podtrapper playback Android

I have a droid 2, which I think runs Froyo.

When I'm playing back podcasts via podtrapper, other apps run horribly slow and even hang. I have to regularly reboot the phone during playback if I try to do anything else like play a game, browse the web, or even browse my homescreen.

It doesn't happen when podtrapper is downloading, or is idle, it's specific to playback and reproducible. I know it's not just me having unrealistic expectations because I used podtrapper on my old BB pearl flip, which was a pile of junk but handled podtrapper just fine.

Has anybody else had this problem, or is it just me?

Hmm, it's definitely possible I have a bug somewhere. What happens if you play them in the native player? (Via the "Play in Native Player" menu item). Do you see similar behavior?
