Playback restarts when resuming video podcast

New postby ScanAmerica on Sat Mar 28, 2009 7:19 pm

I've noticed that every time I attempt to resume playback of an episode of a video podcast that PT always starts playback at the beginning of the episode instead of the point where I left off.

In order to reproduce the problem, partially play an episode of a video podcast (or seek into it), and then pause playback. Next, start playing a different episode and then pause it. When you go back to the previously paused episode and resume listening PT will begin playing it from the beginning (from the user's point of view). The problem doesn't happen if you pause and resume the same episode without switching to another episode and back first, it seems PT can't resume playback after it has to reload an episode into the player. I verified that I *am* able to seek forwards and backwards in the episode in which PT couldn't resume playback from the point I'd left off.

The following is from the log file after attempting to resume playback:

Player Manager:

I'm currently using 1.8.6 on an 8900. I noticed this problem in earlier releases but didn't have enough information about the problem before.

Thanks!

I've been meaning to fix this, it has to do with videos' not being reported as 'seekable' until after they've started playing. PodTrapper does the initial seek before it starts playback, which for most videos is before it's 'seekable'. Thanks for reminding me, I had forgotten about it.
