deleting ad infinatum

New postby aleph on Sun Dec 28, 2008 3:22 pm

So, firstly, thanks for the program. We've all been wanting this for years.

Everythings worked well so far except one feed.

http://www.manager-tools.com/registered-members/rss.xml

I added this feed, which doesn't work because its password protected.
But now I can't delete it. When you try to delete it it says its deleting episodes ... Forever.
Literally. After a battery pull to get it to stop I decided to see what happened if I left it and went to bed.
When I awoke this morning it was still diligently deleting episodes.

It counts quickly from 1 to 100, over and over.

Any ideas?

And thanks again for the app! Will definitely be purchasing at the end of my trial.

Hi aleph,

Well, the deleting forever thing is definitely a bug :) I'll check that out.

For the password protected thing, if you highlight the podcast from the main screen, there's a menu item 'Edit podcast' which should allow you to edit a username and password to specify for that podcast. I've never tested this (I don't have any subscription based podcasts), so can you let me know if it does/doesn't work for you?

Hope this helps...

Hi Marcus,

Thanks for the response.

Adding username and password does not seem to work.
I enter them both and select save, but when I return to 'edit podcast' both fields are still blank.

Assuming you're a developer, you can test this also as the URL included is for 'members', but membership is free.
You just have to register w a valid email for access.

Thanks again!

Hi aleph,

Thanks for the tip. Using that podcast I was able to get everything working. Version 1.4.0 should work for podcasts requiring authentication.

I also have the deleteing forever problem, there's only 8 episodes in the feed (one downloaded) and it keeps counting up to "Deleting .. " to 100, then it starts over. Battery pull required to stop.

Further looking into this indicates that it's an item in the RSS feed that's not a podcast item .. I can delete all other episodes except this which is labeled differently: "Links for ..." and contains no media component. If I try to delete the episode individually it hangs on deleting (but was be canceled) and if I try to delete the podcast it does "Deleting" to 100 over and over.

Yes, there does seem to be issues with non-media elements of the rss feeds. I have had trouble w the newer version as well.

THANKS!!!

I've been trying to track down this bug forever, but could never duplicate it. This helps me tremendously. It'll be fixed in tomorrow's release.
