Volume problem revisited

New postby WarER4X on Fri Jan 09, 2009 9:33 am

I think I recall an earlier version of Podtrapper would leave the audio muted after restarting the playback of a paused episode. The user would then have to hit the volume up or down button to get the sound back. I think that problem was resolved in a later revision... at least when using headphones. I just found that the same problem occurs when using the external speaker for output (I have a Storm, in case that matters). When playback is paused for any reason, unpausing resumes playback, but without volume. A volume button (up or down, doesn't matter) must be pressed to recover the sound. Also, the same problem occurs when Podtrapper begins playing the next episode in a list. In other words, the sound is fine playing one episode until that episode ends. When the player switches to the next episode, a volume button must be pushed to get the sound to start.

I think this is a storm-only 'feature', but I'll see what I can do putting a work around in place (probably incrementing then decrementing the volume upon playback).

Both of these issues should be fixed in 1.6.0 available on the prerelease site at http://ota.versatilemonkey.com/prerelease/

Wanna check it out and let me know?

I missed 1.6.0, but picked up 1.6.1. The fix seems to have worked. Thanks!

PS: I should probably get around to registering my copy of Podtrapper now. ;)

I'm running .86 on my Storm. I don't know if it matters.

Hi Dave,

So you're seeing the exact same behavior? Where you get no sound after playing a new episode until you hit the volume key? Also, if you're not running 1.6.3 can you give it a shot and see if it works?

I have this problem also. I have the storm, running OS .75.

Every podcasts starts without sound and I have to press the volume up button to start the sound.

Just to keep it interesting, I am not having this issue with my Storm using v1.7.1.
