What is the meaning of the icons in the podcast listings on the main screen?
One of my podcasts has two yellow bars, the other has a red asterisk.
Surely this has not never been asked before? Where did I miss the answer?

The red asterisk means ready to listen and the two yellow bars mean pick up where you left off.
