Unable to download over WiFi

New postby Mark9700 on Tue Jan 26, 2010 1:10 pm

I am having trouble downloading podcasts over WiFi with my Bold 9700. OS 5.0.0.344

As far as I can tell the WiFi is set up and working, but I don't know how to verify that. My Blackberry is right beside the access point.

If I use 'Override methods' the podcast reliably downloads over the cell network.

I have emailed support with a log.

Is there a way of verifying that the WiFi is actually working?

More Info:

A WiFi diagnostics gives me this:
Wi-Fi
Current Profile: SD28
SSID: SD28
AP MAC Address: 00:06:B1:3C:F5:6F
Security Type: No Security
Local IP Address: 10.112.129.134
Signal Level: -74 dBm
Connection Data Rate: 54 Mbps
Status: Network acquired

I am able to ping my local gateway and do DNS lookups on the Internet. It looks to me like WiFi is working, just not for PodTrapper.

Hi Mark,

The 'Override methods' thing actually lets it download over the cell network, so it's bypassing the wifi. Looking at your logs it looks like your BB and your wifi aren't getting along. Connections either time out or report DNS failures. Can you try rebooting both the wifi access point and the phone and see if that helps? If not, is there another wifi access point you can try? (Perhaps at a friend's house?)

You can test for sure by going to Settings -> Download Settings -> (Menu) Diagnostic and choosing 'Run'.

Let me know...
