PodTrapper 1.8.6 Released

New postby marwatk on Mon Mar 23, 2009 6:34 pm

Hi guys, I actually released this yesterday but forgot to post.

PodTrapper 1.8.6 is available for download.

It improves seeking behavior significantly (you can now press the seek buttons many times in a row without fear of issues), as well as adding a few minor features and bug fixes.

Let me know how it goes...

"Add Episodes" is blazing fast now, orders of magnitude faster. Great improvement!

Yeah, turns out it was spending 99% of its time updating the progress bar :) Now it only updates the bar after every podcast instead of every episode.

OH No! I've lost the ability to skip through commercials effectively. I never had a problem FF or Rew but now it takes a half second for PT to play after I hit these buttons. Now I connot blaze thru the commercials until I hear the bumper music. I find myself constantly over shooting where I want to be.

Hmm, now I have two conflicting requirements :)

The ability to seek a lot (pressing the buttons many times in a row), and the ability to seek accurately (where each seek actually affects the player).

Right now the delay for individual movements is 750ms, perhaps if I drop that a bit it could satisfy both?

Neuroxic, can you describe exactly how you go about skipping commercials generally?

When I want to skip commercials I will hit the Short FF button until I hear the bumper music. These were rapid skips 2-3 in a second. If I over shot I would use the 5sec rewind in the same manner.

I rarely used the long buttons unless I knew I had a lot to skip. I never experienced any problems using any of the buttons a lot and rapidly.

Dose this help?

I use PT all day long while I'm delivering pizzas. It was easy to skip around while driving. Now it feels laggy.

Thx again for the time and effort. I love using PT.
BTW. I maxed my data out last bill (5 gigs). The improved Desktop dldr really saved me. Thx for getting it stable

I prefer the previous seeking behavior as well. Maybe different keys could be used for the new seek behavior (A and Del?)

I've noticed that with the new seeking behavior that I sometimes accidentally skip forward in a podcast when I accidentally press P when pressing the "hang up" button to return to the BlackBerry home screen. I'm sure I've been hitting P by accident before but the affect wasn't as pronounced as before. I tend to hit the P by accident when pressing the "hang up" button due to the 8900's recessed call buttons.

Yeah, I'll switch back to the old seek behavior for the next release (at least until I've got a workable better solution). Thanks for the input, guys.
