How to download manually

I prefer listening to the oldest podcasts first; Is there a way to disable automatic downloads and only download what I choose to download? I know you can press "G" for download, but will it still work if I disable downloading?

"Disable Downloading" stops the download mechanism, so that won't work. Even if you manually select episodes to download, they won't get downloading.

Do this instead:
From the podcast settings screen, set "Max to auto-download" to 0.

If you want this setting for multiple podcasts:
From the podcast settings screen, hit menu->"Apply to Many Podcasts". Select which settings you want to apply to multiple podcasts, and select the podcasts to which you want to apply the settings.
